Hope of acid attack victims dashed

KATHMANDU: The results of SLC Exam-2071 published on Friday will dash the aim of the February 22 acid attack victims to pass the examination and join college for further study this year.

The acid attack victims, aged 15 and 16, of Rautahat and Ramechaap respectively could not get through the exams. The teenagers were students from two separate schools in the capital city.

The 16-year-old who underwent treatment in Sinamangal-based KMC Hospital has ‘failed’ in all subjects. According to her, the theory marks she had secured in all subjects have not been provided in the mark-sheet.

“I had appeared for all the subjects and did very well. I was surprised to see that I failed and had not got theory marks in all the subjects,” she said, adding that OCE has called her for discussion to resolve the issue on Sunday in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

Bishnu Bahadur Dware, Exam Controller at OCE said her results had no scores because the answer sheets could have been misplaced.

Similarly, the 15-year-old girl who sat for the exams has done well in all the subjects but failed in Compulsory Mathematics. “I am very happy that I received better marks than I expected despite the preparing for the exams under stressful conditions on the bed at Bir Hospital,” she said.
