House begins clause-wise discussion on amendment bill

KATHMANDU: The Parliament on Thursday began clause-wise discussion on the Bill on First Amendment of Constitution of Nepal.

The Parliament for last few weeks had been delaying the discussion waiting for an agreement between the major political parties and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front.

The House meeting was deferred for at least a couple of times hoping for the consensus anytime soon.

However, owing to repeated failure of talks, the parties on Wednesday had decided to continue talks with UDMF but pass the Bill with maximum support parties by Saturday even if consensus could not be forged by then.

Meanwhile, the protesting parties including the UDMF constituents boycotted the meeting today.
