House panel to discuss CIAA interference in Kathmandu University

KATHMANDU: The Good Governance and Monitoring Committee of the Parliament has summoned office bearers of the Kathmandu University to discuss alleged interference of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority into its entrance examinations of a master's programme.

The meeting has been called for 8 am tomorrow, according to a notice issued by the Committee.

It has been learned that the meeting tomorrow would form an investigation team to probe the alleged interference of the anti-corruption constitutional body.

Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a fast-unto-death for last 12 days has accused the CIAA and its chief Lokman Singh Karki of the unnecessary interference with a motive to promote corruption.

He has demanded that Karki and CIAA's Commissioner Raj Narayan Pathak.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Thapa today filed a proposal of public importance demanding that the Parliament begin discussions on demands raised by Dr KC.
