Majority of BIMSTEC dignitaries returning home today

KATHMANDU: Majority of the visiting dignitaries are returning to their home countries today after conclusion of the fourth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit.

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wazed, President of Myanmar Win Myint, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to leave today.

Hasina Wazed will be leaving at 1:00 pm. Chan-o-cha is leaving at 2:00 pm and Myint at 4:30 pm respectively. Likewise, Modi is expected to depart at 6:00 pm after the inauguration of newly constructed 'dharmashala' (rest house) at the premises of Pashupatinath Temple.

Traffic will remain congested throughout the day due to movement of the dignitaries. Similarly, air traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport will be affected.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Bhutan Tshering Wangchuk will be visiting Lumbini today and will return to Bhutan tomorrow. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to return only on Sunday.
