Man arrested on murder charge

KATHMANDU: Police have apprehended a man for his alleged involvement in murdering Rajeshwor Moktan Tamang (30) of Urleni VDC-2 of Nuwakot.

The suspect has been identified as Dhurba Bahadur Tamang (34) of Kalche, Urleni-2, Nuwakot.

Dhruba is a construction worker and a contractor by profession.

Rajeshwor, who had left Bidur of Nuwakot for Kathmandu on August 5, 2015 to submit documents related to relief, went missing since that day.

Rajeshwor was an operator of a cooperative and a secretary of the UCPN-M village committee.

After he went out of contact, his brother Ganesh Bahadur Tamang filed a complaint at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju with a photo on August 8, 2015.

Based on the complaint, a police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) started a manhunt and found the dead body of Rajeshwor at a paddy field in Bhedigoth-5of Kavresthali, Tarkeshwor Municipality at around 2 pm on August 15, 2015.

Later, the team of MPDC with the help of Area Police Office, Kharanitar nabbed Dhurba from Kalche, Urleni-2 of Nuwakot for his alleged involvement in the heinous crime yesterday.

During the investigation, it has been revealed that Dhruba had slit Rajeshwor’s throat with a khukuri at Simkhet in Bhedigoth of Kavresthali, Tarkeshwor Municipality on August 5, 2015, the MPDC informed.

Dhruba has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Cirle, Balaju for necessary investigation today.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rajeshwor and Dhruba had a good relationship earlier.

Later, the relationship soured after Druba came to know that Rajeshwor had an illicit relationship his wife.

Rajeshwor had also lent Rs 200,000 from Dhruba’s wife on interest.

On the second week of July, Dhruba had asked the money that Rajeshwor had taken from his wife but the former denied returning the money.

It has been learnt that the deceased had also tried to rape Sita Thing, wife of Dhurba in the past.

Anguished with all the activities of Rajeshwor, Dhruba killed him on August 15, 2015.
