Man arrested in possession of illegal VoIP equipment

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested a 30-year-old man while he was transporting some equipment used in illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) operation, from Indrayani Chok, Sankhu of Kathmandu.

Binod Dangal, a permanent resident of Sinakhani-5, Kavre, was transporting the equipment on a taxi (Ba 1 Ja 7556) while police nabbed him.

Police seized two SIM ports, a router, a power inverter, a monitor, a keyboard, a CPU, a battery, two modems, a storage device and three mobile phones from the cab.

Similarly, police also seized three unused and two used Ncell SIM cards and Rs 100,000 cash from him.

Meanwhile, police also impounded the motorbike (Ba 37 Pa 7305) from his possession.

Police are looking into the case.
