Man kills co-tenant for molesting his wife

Kathmandu, March 10

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly thrashed his co-tenant to death at Itumbahal, Kathmandu-26 last night for making sexual advances towards his wife.

According to police, Ghanashyam Aryal (30) of Nawalparasi, beat 40-year-old Dayaram Dhakal, who also hails from the same district, to death.

The Metropolitan Police Circle, Janasewa has arrested Aryal and his wife Madhu for further investigation.

An investigator said Dhakal was suspected to have died on the spot as doctors at the Bir Hospital pronounced him dead on arrival.

The incident had occurred at around 9:00 pm. Aryal and Dhakal knew each other for a long time and used to live in separate rooms of the same house besides working as private security guards in Dilli Bazaar.

A team deployed from the MPC reached the scene after Aryal himself called the cops, stating that a person was sexually harassing his wife under the influence of alcohol.

By the time police arrived, Dhakal was found unconscious and was rushed to the hospital.

The police immediately arrested Aryal and his wife, and sent them to custody. During interrogation, Aryal said he thrashed inebriated Dhakal in a fit of rage “for making sexual advances towards his wife”.

“He (Dhakal) used to frequently commit acts of sexual misconduct with my wife (Madhu) and touched her sexually without her consent.

I tried to convince him to stay away from her, but in vain. It was not an intentional murder. All I did was in a fit of rage,” DSP Binod Ghimire quoted Aryal as saying.
