NC seeks clarification from lawmaker Amaresh Kumar Singh

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party has sought clarification from

lawmaker Amaresh Kumar Singh for his controversial remarks over Nepal's secession and disobeying the party's diktat to go to his constituency to collect public feedback on the draft of new constitution. Singh was elected to the Constituent Assembly from Siraha-6.

Party's chief whip Chinkaji Shrestha sought clarification from Singh on Monday, giving him seven days to respond and asking him why the NC should not take action against him for breaching the party discipline.

Arguing that the draft constitution was flawed, Singh had eschewed from taking part in the feedback collection.

Also, Singh had publicly said that Nepal would be disintegrated if the Madhesh region was not acknowledged as an autonomous state.

He had drawn flak for his remarks from various quarters including from within the party. Speaking at the House, some lawmakers had objected to his remarks.
