NCP secretariat to look into leaders’ dissatisfaction

Kathmandu, October 8

A meeting of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) secretariat today decided that issues related to dissatisfaction among some leaders of the ruling party would be discussed in the secretariat on Wednesday.

A note of dissent submitted by senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who has expressed dissatisfaction over the secretariat’s decision to appoint in-charges, assistant in-charges, chairmen and secretaries at the party’s provincial units, was tabled today.

Nepal has said the secretariat took the decision in his absence without proper consultation while he was on a visit to Ghana. He had submitted a note of dissent to the party’s General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, demanding that the issue be discussed in the party’s standing committee.

Bringing the party’s internal issues to the fore, senior leader Nepal had even severely criticised the government in his recent parliament address.

It is also learnt that Narayan Kaji Shrestha, a member of the secretariat and spokesperson for the party, is not happy with the secretariat for taking such a crucial decision in his absence. Shrestha was in China when the NCP secretariat decided in this regard.

The other agenda finalised today for Wednesday’s secretariat meeting were completion of provincial committees, formation of district committees, meeting of the standing committee, formation of central commission and departments, unification of subordinate committees, and making the party’s roles in the government and Parliament effective, Spokesperson Shrestha said.

“The secretariat meeting slated for 8:00am on Wednesday will decide the date and agenda for the standing committee meeting,” Shrestha told THT.

NCP Co-chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leader Nepal, and Spokesperson Shrestha also briefed about their recent foreign visits in today’s meeting.
