Nepali Congress CWC discusses convention preparation, current issues

KATHMANDU: The Central Working Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress has begun at the party headquarters, Sanepa.

The meeting was called to hold discussions regarding preparations for the upcoming 13th national general convention of the party.

The meeting would carry out review of the works carried out by different committees formed for preparations of the convention, as well as hold discussions over amendment to the party statute, among others.

CWC member Pradeep Paudel said that discussions regarding the report submitted by the Active Membership Distribution and Investigation Committee formed under the coordination of CWC member Narahari Acharya were underway.

Acharya had presented the report to the meeting today.

Meanwhile, CWC members including Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narasingh KC, Bal Bahadur KC, Bal Krishna Khand, Sashanka Koirala, Farmullah Mansoor, Mahendra Yadav among others expressed their views about the agenda today.

The party would hold consultations in the meeting on how to forward the Bill on Reconstruction of Earthquake Affected Structures and the Bill on First Amendment of Constitution of Nepal tabled at the Parliament on Tuesday.

The NC general convention has been scheduled in Kathmandu on March 3-6, 2016.

The meeting would resume on Thursday morning, according to party chief secretary Rishikesh Tiwari.
