'Leave UML, Nepali Congress isn't consulted on Constitution amendment'

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Ram Sharan Mahat on Sunday said the ruling parties themselves had not held sufficient discussions on the Constitution amendment.

Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu today, Mahat said the government was yet to begin discussion on the issue though it had already been more than two months since the government formation and the government was talking about the issue since then.

While the main opposition CPN-UML was complaining of no discussion from the government on the issue, an influential leader of the ruling party made similar comments today.

He suggested that the government prepare for the amendment in consensus with all major political forces including the UML.

Meanwhile, Mahat demanded that the government go for local elections with the existing structure.

Commenting on theĀ internal organisation of own party, the leader said factionalism had been on the rise in the NC of late.
