NHRC team off to Qatar to promote rights of Nepali migrant workers

KATHMANDU: A three-member team of the National Human Rights Commission led by Chairman Anup Raj Sharma is leaving for Qatar, on Saturday.

On the invitation of Qatar's National Human Rights Committee, the NHRC Nepal delegation is visiting the Gulf nation, where thousands of Nepali youth are working.

The delegation would meet the Chairman of NHRC Qatar, Ali Bin Samikh Al Marri, and discuss the condition of Nepali migrant workers.

Issuing a press statement, the NHRC Nepal said the delegation would take initiatives to protect and promote human rights of the labourers.

The visiting team will focus on cooperation, coordination and sharing of information about the migrant labourers there and a agreement with the NHRC Qatar, according to the statement.

 

The team will return home on November 17.
