Okhaldhunga jail breaker held from Capital

KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested a man who had run away from the Okhaldhunga District Prison 10 years ago.

The 45-year-old Ladbir Rai had fled the jail on April 23, 2016.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division had nabbed him from Tinchule of Kathmandu on Thursday.

He was sentenced to jail for murdering Ganda Bahadur Rai from Hilepani, Thakle-5 of Okhaldhunga on November 26, 2003.

Police investigations found that Ladbir stayed in India for seven years after the escape.

After returning to Kathmandu around two years ago, he had been working as a painter.

Meanwhile, the MPCD sent him to the Okhaldhunga District Police Office for further action today.
