Kathmandu, April 26

Tension ran high at Om Hospital and Research Centre, Chabahil today after a pregnant woman died while undergoing treatment there.

According to police, irate kin of Sabitri Shrestha of Chabahil vandalised the hospital alleging that she died due to negligence by the doctors.

Shrestha died yesterday evening. However, the hospital administration has maintained that Shrestha, who was admitted on Sunday, died of brain hemorrhage and denied doctors’ negligence.

The kin of the deceased also thrashed a doctor in connection with the incident. The hospital administration and the kin of Shrestha are holding talks to settle the issue.

Security of the hospital has been beefed up following the incident, said police. The hospital has also launched further investigation to establish the facts.
