Photo exhibition marks 60 years of Nepal-China ties

KATHMANDU: To mark the 60 years of diplomatic togetherness between Nepal and China, a photo exhibition is being held at the Nepal Academy, Kamaladi from Monday to Thursday.

The photos of diplomatic importance are being displayed on the walls of the hall.

Nepal and China had entered into diplomatic relations on August 1, 1955.

“Altogether 65 photos are being displayed. On one side of the wall, we have photos of high-level visits, historical agreements and partnership, while on the other side of the wall, photos of culture, topography and development of Tibet have been hung for public display,” said Ge Weimin, Executive Director at Nepal-Tianli Publication and Culture Company, organiser of the event.

China Tibetan Bookshop and World Culture Net are co-organisers of the event.

The exhibition is open to public from 10 am to 4 pm every day.

Academicians, students, scholars, researchers and journalists thronged the venue of exhibition on the first day.

"This exhibition helps people understand multidimensional aspects of Nepal- China relations," said Chancellor of the Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Uprety while observing the photos.

Deepak Sarkar from World Culture Net, one of the organisers of the exhibition, explained about objectives of the exhibition and stories behind photos to the inquisitive visitors.

“The exhibition is the extension of what we displayed at the Soaltee Hotel on Saturday,” said Sarkar.

To enrich the understanding of visitors, the exhibition has also used a video to disseminate more information about Tibet.

“I enjoyed the video part of the exhibition and got to know about tourist destination and music in Tibet,” said one of the visitors, Jamuna Shahi.
