PM's aide hopeful of UML support for Constitution amendment
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's chief political advisor Chakrapani Khanal said that the incumbent government had been working on to pass the Constitution amendment bill with the support of CPN-UML.
Addressing an interaction programme at the Reporter's Club in Kathmandu on Saturday, Khanal claimed that the Constitution amendment bill would be passed within next one month.
According to Khanal, the local level polls would be held with the consensus of major parties including Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Centre and CPN-UML after the bill got passed with the support of the major opposition party.
He also made it clear that that the government would follow any appropriate kind of strategy for the Constitution amendment.
Mentioning that the Maoists would not break the alliance with the Congress, the CPN Maoist Centre central leader also said that the government would be changed after holding local elections.
He claimed that the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front would not be able to disrupt the coming elections.

Speaking at the programme, CPN-UML leader Banshidhar Mishra made it clear that his party would not support the Constitution amendment bill as it did not benefit the Madhesi people.
However, Mishra said that the principal opposition would not create any obstruction to take the Constitution amendment process to its conclusion.
Mentioning that the UML had already been flexible, he further suggested that the Madhesi Front should be more flexible by accepting results of the amendment debate at the House.
Mishra also challenged the Madhesi Front to participate in upcoming election and prove their status by winning people's votes.
