President Bhandari calls for making justice prompt, accessible

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has spoken of the need for making the judicial service prompt, affordable and accessible to all.

Addressing an annual report submission programme of  the Judicial Council and the Judicial Service Commission for fiscal year 2015/016 at the President's Office in  Shital Niwas on Thursday, the President said the judicial service should be easily accessible to all.

The Head of  State also stressed on the need for making the judiciary well-equipped with the amenities and technology in tune with the time, saying the judiciary including all the judicial bodies should be well-equipped with the required facilities.

Acting Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli presented the Annual Report of the Judicial Council and the Judicial Service Commission (Fiscal Year 2015/16) to the President.

The annual report of the Judicial Council incorporates the works carried out by the Council including the appointment of Supreme Court justices and the justices to the High Courts.

The report also recommends justices to be appointed at the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court.

There is the constitutional provision which states that the Judicial Council and the Judicial Service Commission shall present their Annual Report to the President.
