President Bhandari quits all responsibilities of UML, Parliament
KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday announced that she quit all positions of CPN-UML as well as membership of the Parliament after being elected the Head of State.
Issuing a press note a day after her election to the top post, Bhandari said she quit the party and the Parliament to maintain "dignity of the post and fairly perform duties assigned by the Constitution."
Bhandari was elected President of the nation in a voting held at the Parliament on Wednesday.
She has thanked her former party CPN-UML, other parties supporting her in the election, lawmakers and all for her victory.
