President observes Nepal Army's Phulpati function

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Saturday observed the Phulpati function organised by the Nepal Army at the Army Pavilion in Kathmandu.

The national army has been organising the function on the occasion of Phulpati, the seventh day of 15-day Badadashain festival, every year.

Following the decades-long tradition, army personnel had opened fire from cannons and rifles at the function.

They had also performed the march pasts.

Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chief Justice Sushila Karki, deputy prime minister and ministers, top government officials, representatives of Kathmandu-based diplomatic missions and chiefs of security agencies were present on the occasion.

Chief of Army staff Rajendra Chettri had welcomed Bhandari to the function before the Head of the State was honoured with a salute.

A huge crowd had gathered to observe the annual celebration.
