KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday dispatched letters to various political parties associated with the agitating Madhesi and Tharu fronts to explore solution through dialogue.

Prime Minister Oli formally wrote to Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party Chairperson Mahantha Thakur, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav, Sadbhawana Party Chairperson Rajendra Mahato and Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party Nepal Chairperson Mahendra Yadav among others asking them to come to the negotiation table, according to the Prime Minister's press advisor Pramod Dahal.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday authorised the Prime Minister to hold talks with the agitating parties.

Nepal is currently facing an acute shortage of petroleum products due to an agitation in the Tarai-Madhes region and obstruction of supplies to Nepal from India.
