Parties agree to provide relief for quake victims in two installments

KATHMANDU: The ruling parties and main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) on Wednesday reached a consensus to provide relief amount for earthquake victims in two installments.

The earthquake victims would receive Rs 150,000 in first installment and Rs 50,000 in second.

The largest political force in the legislative body, NC has been obstructing the House business since Friday demanding that the government provide a lump sum of Rs 200, 000 to earthquake survivors to rebuild their houses.

Following the agreement, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would address the Parliament meeting today.

It has been learned that the Prime Minister would inform the House about the present status of reconstruction works and Kabul suicide attack.

As many as 12 Nepali security guards were killed and seven others injured when a suspected Taliban suicide bomber targeted a minibus they were travelling in, in Kabul of Afghanistan on June 20.

The House meeting has been scheduled for 2 pm.
