Save hunger striker Dr Govinda KC's life: NHRC to govt

KATHMANDU: The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) has made an appeal to save Prof Dr Govind KC's life, and urged the veteran orthopaedic surgeon who has staged a hunger strike since September 26 and the Government of Nepal to resolve his demands through dialogue.

The rights watchdog made the appeal today after visiting Dr KC at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajganj and acquired information about his health condition.

"Since person's treatment is related to right to live whatsoever be the way of protest, the Commission draws attention of the concerned side to be sensitive immediately towards saving his life," expressing its concerns over deterioration in his health, the NHRC said in a statement this afternoon.
