Statute not possible in current situation: CPN-M to envoys

Kathmandu, September 4

Chief of the International Department of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel today held a meeting with some foreign envoys and informed them about the party’s stance on contemporary politics.

Also the vice-chairman of the party, Gajurel said his party informed the ambassadors of six countries, including United Kingdom, Russia and China, that a round table conference could resolve all the issues in constitution writing.

Gajurel said the party had briefed the envoys on how the leaders of major political parties led the country to this critical situation. “Now the parties are at a point from where they can neither move forward nor step back,” he said, adding that the demands of the agitating parties should be resolved politically.”We told the envoys that the new constitution is not possible and even if the leaders delivered the constitution they would sow seeds of conflict,” he said.

In response, according to him, the envoys had said they all were for resolving the issues in a peaceful way.“Deputy Chief of Mission of Britain said they were for new constitution that ensures the rights of disadvantaged groups incorporating the spirit of inclusiveness,” Gajurel said.

However, envoys of India and USA did not attend the interaction.
