Technical stream SLC results in grade system

BHAKTAPUR: The Office of the Controller of Examination, School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Board on Sunday published the result of examinees from Technical and Vocational Stream.

The result was published in grading system, therefore no student has failed. According to Bishnu Bahadur Dware, examination controller, the result of technical and vocation stream was ‘very good’.

He said that a total of 3,292 examinees had filled the form for SLC exam and 3,256 (2,010 boys and 1,246 girls) had given the exam. He said, “215 students have got A+, 779 students have got A, 2,131 students have got B, 124 got C, one got D and none have got E.”

OCE said A+ means 90 to 100 marks, A means 80 to 89, B means 60 to 79, C means 40-59 and D means 25 to 39 while E grade means below 24.

Dware said around 50 per cent of the students passed with distinction in the exam.

The technical and vocational stream was introduced by Nepal government in 2012 in 99 schools in the pilot phase. There are altogether ten subjects in the technical stream, while there are only eight subjects in the general stream.

The students can choose their favourite subjects from among five categories namely agriculture, engineering, hotel and hospitality management, computer science and livestock farming as optional subjects. Curriculum Development Centre had made it compulsory to appear for on-the-job training for students from the technical stream.

The students cannot get their SLC certificate without completing on-the-job training, Dware said. Students who got C or below, can sit for supplementary exam.
