Tourism minister urges for reforms at TIA

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ananda Pokharel, has said that the nation's only international airport should not be made merely a site for profit making.

During his visit to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for monitoring, Minister Pokharel stressed that services at the country's only international airport should be made effective instead of making it the place for earning profit.

He said, "All bodies concerned should be committed to make the TIA a highly prestigious place by considering that the TIA is a base of the country's glory, prestige and prosperity."

The Tourism Minister expressed the view that it would be more effective if the system of disseminating information about Nepal to the foreigners by the taxi drivers themselves was brought into practice.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry, Dinesh Thapaliya, urged the bodies concerned to unveil the reform plans of the TIA.

Likewise, TIA Director General Sanjeev Gautam said that quality services could be given if works were carried out by coordinating with each other.
