Aftershock with Sindhupalchok epicentre shakes Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The National Seismological Centre said it recorded an aftershock of magnitude-4.6 with its epicentre near Ichok of Sindhupalchok on Saturday afternoon.

The aftershock of the magnitude-7.6 earthquake that claimed thousands of lives and destroyed property worth millions in the nation on April 25 last year had struck the central Nepal at 3:24 pm today.

The coordinates of the epicentre are 27.94°N, 85.50°E.

Thousands of aftershocks have followed the April 25 earthquake in 13 months.

But the NSC has processed data of around 460 significant aftershocks, including some minor ones that epicentred in the Capital,  and published their magnitude and epicentre on its website.

Tremor felt in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A strong tremor was felt in Kathmandu at around 3:23 pm on Saturday.

The epicentre and its magnitude are immediately unknown.

It is also not yet clear that if it was a fresh earthquake or another epicentre of the magnitude-7.6 earthquake that claimed thousands of lives and destroyed property worth millions in the nation on April 25 last year.

Earlier, in the wee hours of May 24, an aftershock of magnitude-4.2 was recorded with the epicentre in a location between Naubise and Jeewanpur of Dhading district.
