UML CC meet to discuss post-Constitution developments

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML Central Committee meeting began on Saturday to hold discussions on post-Constitution political developments in the nation and the party's role in it.

Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli, also the Prime Minister, presented a political report in beginning of the meeting to lead the discussions.

The report has claimed that the Constitution promulgated from the Constituent Assembly last year, for which the party had led as Oli claimed, was a historical achievement for the nation.

The report has analysed and presented the party's views on other dimensions of current political developments including the border blockade imposed by India, demands raised by Madhes-based political parties and attempts to resolve them, Oli's visit to India and China as the Prime Minister, performance of the government, as well as the steps the party should take in compliance in the changed political context.

Meanwhile, the CC was divided into 10 groups to hold detailed deliberations on the report.

The detailed discussion shall begin on Sunday.

The meeting is scheduled to last till Tuesday.
