All parties should unite to build nation, says Deuba

Kathmandu, July 24

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today urged all the parties to stand together to build the nation.

Speaking during the discussion on the no-trust motion filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the Parliament, Deuba said the recommendation made by the Cabinet to the President to remove constitutional difficulties was unnecessary.

Deuba had seconded the no-trust motion filed by CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The NC president said it was natural in the parliamentary system for the party losing majority to leave the government and the one with majority to form a new government. “There were no constitutional difficulties in the formation of a new government,” he said.

Stating that issues like national unity and national security should be raised in the interests of the country, Deuba said the new government would prioritise mending ties with neighbours, reconstruction works and talks with the agitating Madhes-based parties to address their concerns.

The NC president also said that the government should not interfere in the independence of the judiciary.

He said the new government should work towards making state mechanisms accountable to the people.
