11 persons arrested in connection to herb trader's murder in Syangja

POKHARA: Police on Tuesday paraded 11 persons who were arrested for their alleged involvement in murdering an unidentified herb trader in Aruchaur of Syangja district.

Preliminary investigations had revealed that the suspects had stabbed the trader, who had appeared to be in his mid-40s, with the intention of robbing him of cash and valuables on January 11.

DSP Bir Bahadur Pulami said the trader had stayed at a house in the village and a gang led by Tilak BK had attacked him.

While the gang had wanted to rob him, the trader had died on the spot in the attack.

After the crime, they had buried the body in a nearby farm before the report of the victim's disappearance spread across the village, according to Pulami.

They, however, turned suspicious about the consequences; hence dug out the body and took it to a forest in Simalchaur, five-hour walk from the incident site.

Their trickery did not stop here. They also killed a buffalo calf and buried it in the hole they had dug.

Locals had reported the case of disappearance to police after smelling some foul play.

Then, police have mobilised its team for investigation.

Meanwhile, police said the suspects were presented before the District Court today and the Court remanded them to custody.

A murder case would be filed against them, added DSP Pulami.
