Kavre, November 13

Local Bodies’ Restructuring Technical Committee of Kavre has recommended 14 local bodies for the district. The report has been sent to the Commission for the Restructuring of Local Bodies.

According to Technical Committee coordinator Local Development Officer Tekraj Niraula, the model was recommended following intense discussions with local political parties.

“We discussed the separate models, one which was prepared by taking the population into account and the next brought up by political parties and finally we decided to settle on the model with 14 local bodies,” said Niraula.

Earlier, the parties, upon failing to settle on a model unanimously within the given deadline, had forwarded two separate models to the commission While the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress had proposed 14-body models, including eight municipalities, CPN MC had proposed a separate 13 body model featuring a sub-metropolis.

There are 5 municipalities and 75 village development committees in the district.
