LAMJUNG: As many as 18 people were injured, two of them critically, in a bus accident at Bensisahar of Lamjung district in western Nepal on Tuesday afternoon.

The passenger bus (Dha 1 Kha 171), heading to the district headquarters Bensisahar from Khatrithanti of Sundar Bazar, hit the hillock on the roadside after its steering jammed abruptly.

Critically injured Deumaya Gurung (40) of Rainas and bus conductor Binod Ghimire (18) have been referred to Kathmandu, according to police.

Three others have been receiving treatment at the Lamjung District Community Hospital, while others were discharged after primary treatment.

Police said they have taken the bus driver, Manoj Gurung, in custody for investigation.
