MAHOTTARI: It has been discovered that around 32,000 children in Mahottari district are not attending formal schooling.

A recent study conducted by the Society of Development Centre, Mahottari revealed the startling fact.

District Education Officer Thulo Babu Dahal, however, explained that the figure still could not be considered accurate and could be much more if other unregistered schools and madrasas would be surveyed.

It is estimated that there are around 300 unregistered schools and madrasas in the district.

Children belonging to Muslim, Dalit and marginalised communities are out of school, the study shows. Of them, around 60 per cent are girls.
