350 vehicles escorted to destination despite indefinite banda in Tarai

Biratnagar:  Security personnel safely escorted some 350 buses grounded at Bandipur of Siraha, owing to the indefinite strike held at the call of Joint Madheshi Front to their respective destination.

The Front has imposed the indefinite banda in the Tarai, protesting against the proposal for the new constitution mainly the draft of the demarcation of federal units.

Some 51 passenger buses, 69 goods-laden containers and 16 small vehicles en route to various towns in the eastern districts from western Nepal were stranded at Bandipur. They were escorted to destinations such as Itahari, Dharan, Biratnagar and Jhapa.

Likewise, some 100 passenger buses, 108 goods-laden trucks and 14 vehicles en route to western Nepal from the east have been taken to Bandipur, Siraha, according to the Eastern Regional Police Office, Biratnangar.
