4 including minor hurt in Garuda police-protester clash

RAUTAHAT: At least four persons including a minor were injured in a police-protester clash in Garuda Municipality of Rautahat, on Wednesday.

Locals claimed that police thrashed the injured with their lathis and boots.

The victims include Bilas Chaudhary (50) of Garuda, Shekh Manjur (60) of Basbiti Jigadiya, Surendra Baitha (15) of Laxmipur Belbichhawa and a yet-to-be-identified protester.

It was, however, protesters who invited police for confrontation in the beginning. After, they pelted stones at security personnel deployed from the Area Police Office, police had begun to chase away them.

Later, police thrashed some of them with boots and lathis, injuring four, the locals said.

The hurt ones are undergoing treatment at Garuda-based Health Land Hospital.

Spokesperson at the District Police Office, DSP Sudhir Raj Shahi, confirmed the clash. He, however, said details of the injured are still awaited.
