800 trucks enter Nepal via Birgunj in 3 days

BIRGUNJ: Around 800 trucks entered Nepal via the Birgunj-Raxaul border point since the blocked point opened on Friday afternoon.

Birgunj Customs Office spokesperson Sushil Sharma said the customs duty collection was also improving since Friday.

Sharma said the Office collected Rs 80 million tax on Sunday only.

Rs 8.8 million and Rs 38.5 million tax was collected on Friday and Saturday respectively.

The vehicles across the border are smoothly operating after the barriers and tents set by the protesters were removed by locals including traders on Friday, which effectively ended the months-long blockade.
