96-year-old woman receives citizenship

A 96-year-old woman received citizenship certificate at a mobile camp being organised in Jagannath Rural Municipality, Bajura, yesterday.

Kalya Baduwal of the rural municipality received the citizenship card at the mobile camp being operated by District Administration Office, District Health Office, Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Bajura, in coordination with Jagannath Rural Municipality Office. The mobile camp was operated from November 17-19 at the rural municipality office.

The elderly woman had been unable to receive citizenship certificate earlier as she could not reach the district headquarters. The district headquarters is two days’ walking distance from the village. She said she felt happy after receiving the citizenship certificate even in her old age.

Employment Coordinator of the rural municipality Laxman Joshi said as many as 190 males and 279 females received the citizenship certificate from the mobile camp.

At the mobile camp, citizenship certificates were distributed. Likewise, birth and death records were registered at the camp. Information Officer Srijana Shahi said identity cards were distributed to disabled persons and agriculture seeds were put on display for sale at the mobile camp. She said veterinary service, health check-up, among others, were also organised.

As many as 598 persons got their health checked, 121 got video x-rayed and 32 underwent lab test. As many as 53 disabled persons received their identity cards at the camp.
