Janakpurdham, August 27

An-eight-month old baby girl abducted from Aaurahi Municipality was found dead in Mahottari today noon.

Sonali Kumari Chaudhary was kidnapped from her father Santosh’s shop at Aaurahi bazaar yesterday noon. According to District Police Office, Chaudhary’s body was found three kilometres away from the bazaar in the jungle. The body was found naked and bleeding from  the mouth.

Mahottari Police Chief SP Ishwor Karki said the body was kept at District Hospital for post-mortem. “Exact cause of the death will come out after post-mortem report,” police said.

Police confirmed that Bharat Sah of Jamuniya in Sitapur Bhangaha Municipality was involved in the abduction and murder of the child. The CCTV camera  installed at Chaudhary’s shop shows that Sah had carried the child away, said SP Karki.

According to Karki, Sah had played with the child while sitting near her mother and taken the baby away. The family had reported to the police two hours after the child was abducted.

SP Karki said the baby girl was not abducted for ransom. A large number of police personnel have been deployed to arrest Sah.

Locals say that Sah’s mental state was not normal.
