Abduction, murder case still unsolved after 14 months

Rajbiraj, January 2

Police have yet to solve the case of abduction and murder of Enul Miyan, 68, of Tikuliya, Saptari, fourteen months after the incident.

The victim’s kin organised a press conference here today to call for speedy resolution of the case.

Miyan was abducted and murdered in September last year.

“We found his body a day after his abduction. It has been over a year, and we still haven’t received the justice due to us,” said Miyan’s daughter-in-law Roshan Khatun. She said they had filed a complaint and even named the perpetrators back then. “Even with the description identifying what the perpetrators looked like, they have still not been arrested,” Roshan said.

As per the FIR filed by Miyan’s family, Eyub Rain, Mumtaj Ali, Asin Miyan, Sakhawat Miyan, Kaili Khatun, Darud Miyan of Tikuliya; Mahabub Miyan of Malahaniyan;, Mohammad Inus of Mansera; and Basir Miyan of Siraha Municipality were involved in the abduction and murder case.

“The persons whose names have been mentioned in the FIR are roaming freely, but the police are saying they are unaccounted for,” she bemoaned, accusing the police of being lackadaisical. “As the male members of my family are away in a foreign land, it seems the police aren’t bothered to listen to a woman like me,” she said.

On his part, the inspector of the local Area Police Office said he had only been recently appointed at the office and didn’t know much about the case.
