Janakpurdham, March 31

Police in Dhanusha today produced CPN-UML alternative politburo member Yog Narayan Yadav in the district court.

He was an accused in a murder and arms and ammunition case.

Police arrested him from in front of the UML headquarters in Kathmandu yesterday. Today, his supporters and supporters of CPN (Maoist) coordinator Matrika Yadav had hurled stones at each other when Yadav was being taken to court.

The stone-pelting  had occurred when Yadav’s supporters tried to demonstrate in front of the court, where Matrika Yadav’s supporters were already demanding stern punishment for the arrested leader.

According to court Registrar Nanda Kishor Yadav, Yadav’s statement could not be recorded today due to lack of time.

The UML leader has been charged with murdering Ram Sewak Raut and Ram Prakash Yadav over a school management committee dispute in Sabaila of Dhanusha about one year ago.

Police investigation showed Ram Prakash had died from a bullet injury while Ram Sewak succumbed to injuries after a terrible thrashing. The UML leader had been on the run ever since the two were murdered.
