At least 4 protesters killed in Mahottari

JANAKPURDHAM/KATHMANDU: At least four persons were killed and over 1o injured in Jaleshwar of Mahottari during violent protests on Wednesday.

Police had resorted to firing after a mob tried to attack the official residence of district judge, according to an official at the District Administration Office, Mahottari.

Three of the victims have been identified as Amir Kapar (21) and Rohan Chaudhary (24) of Jaleshwar Municipality and Ram Bibek Yadav (22) of Mahottari VDC-5.

They had died on the spot, according to journalist Hari Prasad Mandal, who had witnessed the incident.

The injured are undergoing treatment at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital and Mahottari District Hospital.

Meanwhile, the DAO has clamped an indefinite curfew in Jaleshwar.

Earlier, one protester was killed in police action in Bhardaha of Saptari district.
