Badis flay draft of the constitution

KATHMANDU, August 3

The Badi Community has flayed the preliminary draft of the constitution for not including representation of the Badi Community.

The Community has handed over a 14-point demand stressing that they had been excluded in the process of drafting the constitution. The Badis said the draft had focused on ending caste discrimination and untouchability but had not ensured equal participation in the executive, judiciary and legislature. They have demanded guarantees o appointment of representatives from Badi Community in all levels of political and constitutional positions.

Likewise they have sought formation of a Badi Commission, shelter for Badis and implementation of agreements reached with the government in the past. Ramadevi Badi, former member of District Badi Struggle Committee  and Dalit Commission  expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the draft of the constitution had failed to address the issues of Badi.
