Bhojpur Airport to resume operation

BHOJPUR: Preparations are over to resume operations at the Bhojpur Airport which was closed for nearly seven months.

The airport in Taksar of the eastern hilly district of Bhojpur was shut for operation from November 25 last year for reconstruction of its runway.

According to Somesh Thapa, Head of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) in Bhojpur, gravelling of the runway will be complete within a week and become ready for flights.

However, the black-topping of the runway will only start from first week of August, he added.

According to CAAN Bhojpur, regular flights will be carried out only after observation from engineers and a test flight.

A local Sita Karki said sick and people with disabilities are badly affected due to the flight halt.

Reopening of the airport, hence, has created happiness among people, she added.

Kalika Construction is renovating the airport.

Nepal Airlines Corporation and Tara Airlines were operating flights from and to the airport before it was closed last year.
