Bikes torched, vandalised amid minor clashes in Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI: Cadres affiliated to protesting parties torched a motorbike for defying their bandh in Gopigunj in Nawalparasi district on Tuesday.

The Indian two-wheeler (UP 53 D 8881), on which Jwahir Harijan, a resident of Rampur Khadauna Madhauliya in the district was riding, was set ablaze at around 2 pm today.

Police said that the motorcycle was completely damaged in the arson attck.

Similarly, two motorcycles were also vandalised by the agitators at Shanti Chaur in Parasi, the district headquarters.

Likewise, the district today witness a minor scuffle between the agitators and local traders in Bhujahawa around 12 noon in the district.

The local traders of Bhujahawa claimed that the agitators themselves were involved in smuggling of goods from India in nights and black marketing in the day time.

The minor clash occurred after the local traders opened their shops and the agitators tried to close them forcefully.

Gopigunj, Belatari and Parasi of the district were hit hard by the bandh called by the agitators.

Nawalpur, another business hub of the district, however, has not been affected by the ongoing protests.

The agitators in the district said they would not let schools in the districts operate even in the morning hours.
