Birgunj docs nabbed on fake certificate charge get clean chit

BIRGUNJ: The Parsa District Court on Thursday acquitted eight medical doctors arrested on fake certificate charges by Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police.

The doctors were indicted for forgery at the Court.

A single bench of district judge Muhammad Junaid Aajad acquitted all of them claiming the CIB could not collect sufficient evidence to prove the charges.

Earlier, the police investigatory body had been asked to come up with more substantial evidence twice, according to a lawyer Ram Narayan Kurmi.

Under the national Operation Quack, the CIB had arrested Dr Kusharaj Giri, Dr Saroj Singh and Dr Panna Lal Patel of the Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital; Dr Ruhullah, Dr Nimesh Pal Raman and Dr Irshadul Haqq of the National Medical College; and Dr Ram Kumar Pradhan and Dr Dinesh Kumar Teli in the third week of June.

The doctors were released on bail on July 4.

Advocates Sudheer Karna, Pramod Sah, Ram Narayan Kurmi and Hari Krishna Adhikari had advocated for the doctors. Likewise, the government attorney Surya Prasad Subedi had defended the case.
