Bomb blast, protest in Kailali

Explosion, arson and protests rocked Kailali today.

According to police sources, unidentified persons exploded a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder about 100 metres away from Mukesh Complex in Lamki Chuha-2, Lamki Bazaar.

According to Kailali police chief SP Bikram Bahadur Chand, no one has claimed responsibility so far.

Agitating Tharu protesters set fire to two police posts and a VDC office here.

According to Tharuhat Struggle Committee Kailali spokesperson Madhav Chaudhary, Pawera VDC office and Chhotki Paliya police post in the same VDC and Rampur police post of Ratanpur VDC were torched.

The places have majority Tharu population. According to SP Chand, reinforcement has been sent to the places in the wake of the incidents.

Similarly, Tharu protesters continued their agitation on the highway in Kailali at Chaumala, Rajipur, Masuriya, Pahalmanpur, Sukhkhad. They also blockades a number of places on the highway.

Meanwhile, celebrations and dipawali were held on the face of the protest of Tharuhat/Tharuwan cadres here, as the major parties held celebration meetings at a number of places including Attariya, Dhangadi and Lamki in the district.

Local administration extended the curfew by one hour today citing security sensitivity.
