Cabinet expansion only after Constitution amendment: DPM Mahara

CHITWAN: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara has asserted that the government would be expanded only after the Constitution amendment.

Addressing a press meet organised by the Press Centre Nepal in Chitwan on Monday morning, DPM Mahara said, "The constitution amendment proposal will be presented today or tomorrow."

Responding to mediapersons, DPM refuted claims of dispute among the ruling parties in sharing the ministries.

Meanwhile, he informed that a Nepali team would soon leave for India to study the impact of Goods and Service Tax (GST) imposed by the Indian government from July 01.

The CPN Maoist Centre leader further opined that as it had only been a week, the impact of the GST had not yet seen in Nepal. Mahara added that he has discussed about the issue with the Indian External Affairs Minister during his visit to India.

GST, the new and integrated tax system imposed by the Indian central government has effectively invalidated the separate federal tax systems in the Indian states.
