Cabinet reviews security situation

A cabinet meeting today reviewed the security situation in the country at a time when the Constituent Assembly is in the final stage of promulgating the new constitution and various dissident groups are resorting to protests with violent activities in some places.
Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam had briefed about the security situation and challenges at the cabinet meeting held at Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s residence in Baluwatar this morning, according to Minister for Information and Communications Minendra Rijal.
“The government is committed to facilitating the constitution drafting process and forging consensus among all political forces. Some incidents took place in some places and these are regrettable. The cabinet reviewed the current security situation and discussed settling the political issues through political means,” Rijal said.
Meanwhile, the cabinet appointed Manjit Tamrakar and Govinda Sunuwar as members of National Dalit Commission. It also appointed Bishwamani Gyanwali the Executive Director of Solid Waste Management Technical Support Centre, according to Rijal.
