Chand-led Maoists unleash donation drive in Khotang

Khotang, August 25

Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist has launched a donation drive in Khotang.

The Maoist party has started demanding donation from government and non-government offices, industries, factories and entrepreneurs.

The party has sent letters to various offices, traders and industries demanding donation to launch a campaign to institutionalise the gains of the Maoist insurgency and the second people’s movement.

The party that sent letters to government offices a month ago has now started approaching traders and entrepreneurs for donation. Traders and entrepreneurs said that they had been receiving calls from the Maoists for donation.

CPN Maoist Khotang Secretary Chandra Bahadur Budhathoki said they were demanding donation to launch an agitation for nationalism, people’s democracy and people’s livelihood. “We have not coerced anyone to give donation,” Budhathoki said.

The Maoist party said it would work to reduce corruption, rape, black-marketing and help develop a prosperous Khotang in the future.
