Chitwan to house Office of Provincial Traffic Police of Province 3

CHITWAN: Even though the permanent headquarters of Province 3 is yet to be confirmed, it has been decided to establish the Office of Provincial Traffic Police in Chitwan district, citing geographical location, road network, and proximity to the provisional capital Hetauda.

The Provincial Traffic Police Office has already rented a house in Ramnagar of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1 and will carry out its operation from there after the works of cleaning and painting are completed, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabinraj Rai, Chief of Traffic Office, Province 3. The works are scheduled to finish within a week, SP Rai added.

The provincial office will have jurisdiction over all districts of the province except three districts — Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur within Kathmandu valley, SP Rai further informed.

Earlier, the traffic police office was situated in Pathlaiya of Bara district in accordance to the jurisdiction division based on the then structure of development regions. It was later shifted to Chitwan district after it was incorporated in Province 3.

According to SP Rai, the office was all set to be started in Muglin Bazaar of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, however, in the lack of appropriate building, its location had to be changed to Bharatpur.

The office will have 36 police personnel working under the command of SP.
