Constitution celebrated across nation

The new constitution was celebrated across the country.

A mass rally was held in Chitwan. Thousands of people participated in a rally that concluded in a welcome meeting at Guesthouse Chowk of Bharatpur.

All five lawmakers from the district expressed joy at the promulgation of the statute.

In Lamjung, people of different communities donned their cultural attires and rallied through various parts of the district headquarters Besishahar before concluding in a corner meeting at Phulbari Manch.

In Tanahun, thousands participated in a rally organised by Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist and Janamorcha Nepal.

Likewise, Lions Club of Byas City, Lions Club of Tanahun and Leo Club and Lions Club Bhanubhakta also organised a harmony rally in Damauli.

In Pyuthan a massive rally was organised in Khalanga to welcome the statute.

Panchthar, too celebrated the constitution. In district headquarters Phidim, youths organised a motorbike rally that went round the bazaar. Six parties, including NC, UML, UCPN-M and Rastriya Prajatantra Party also held a rally and a corner meeting here, urging the people to support the implementation of the statute.

 

Clash in Damak

JHAPA: Eight persons including a police sub-inspector were injured in a clash between supporters and the protesters over the new constitution in Damak, Jhapa on Monday.

The clash ensued after protesters tried to disrupt a victory ceremony planned by locals and political parties at Ganatantra Chowk, on Beldangi road, in Damak municipality. According to police sources, SI Jivan Gautam and seven protesters were injured.

Supporters of the constitution vandalised the party offices of Federal Socialist Party Nepal and Federal Limbuwan Party Nepal. Police had to fire nine rounds in the air to take the situation under control. The injured are undergoing treatment at different health facilities in Damak and Biratnagar.
